Instead, Toula admits that the diner Ian is describing is owned by her family, and says that she's the server he once smiled at Ian, with slowly dawning realization, says, "I remember you," and the look on his face indicates that he didn't think of Toula as plain, but rather bewitching. Eventually, Toula lands a date with Ian, who doesn't recognize that she was once his waitress, and when he tells her about a terrific Greek place he wants to take her to - oh yes, it's her parents' diner - I felt a mild foreboding: Uh oh, I thought, what nutty scheme is Toula going to pull to distance herself from her eccentric Greek family, and how will she keep the cute WASP from realizing that she's still, at heart, a frump? Yet after a handsome teacher named Ian (John Corbett) smiles at her in the restaurant one day, he sparks in Toula a desire to change her image she gets contact lenses, snazzes up her wardrobe and appearance, starts attending college, and gets a job at a travel agency. Our heroine, Toula (Nia Vardalos), is a 30-year-old waitress in a diner owned by her Greek-with-a-vengeance parents, and has always been, as she describes herself, "a frump" - plain, bespectacled, overweight, and sadly single. In the first 20 minutes of the romantic comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding, there's a scene so simple it feels revelatory.

My most useful application of that feature is setting the cursor key colours to match the axis colour in SketchUp As well as the programmable G-Keys, you can control each key's back light colour independently. I doubt my profiles will be relevant to anyone else, but I am happy to share if anyone wants to use them as a starting point. I did not use all of the buttons on the mouse as they were not ergonomically comfortable, but the G502 is a lot better in that respect. I have never made full use of the Razer Orbweaver as I don't like their Synapse software as much as LGS (not sure how to rank it against G-Hub), and I am struggling to think of another zillion functions to assign to it on top of the 9 X 3 of the G910 keyboard, and the 8 on my old G602 mouse. Plus my old plan evolved with things added as I thought of them, and it is a bit of a dogs dinner with no grouping by context. Some shortcuts have changed for instance (I still have a G-key programmed for Repeat Undo) so some of my programmed keys have become irrelevant. I am now able to do what I need to, but I am starting from scratch with a plan. I mentioned back up this thread, that Logitech's new G-Hub software is not particularly intuitive, but through dogged trial and error, I think I have worked most of it out, so ask if something is driving you crazy, and I'll help if I can. I'll see if I can make any sense if I RTFM? I wonder if Jive will at least make the URL an active link when I post this? AFAICT G-Hub does not have that option, but I am working this out as I go. With LGS I could include unicode and paste in an active hyperlink. So after matching that macro to a G-Key on my G910, I can add it to this thread with a single key. If I moved focus to another window, the macro would consider itself done and I could not edit the contents of the text box It 'has' to be in the clipboard already though. OK, I'm working this out on the fly, and choosing Text & Emojis I find I can paste in a text string as I could with LGS. Moving forward from here can be even more confusing, and when you make the inevitable mistake, it is not clear about how to fix it without starting again. Just to confuse things, I've changed to Sequence because No Repeat did not give me the options I wanted. I've chosen No Repeat (but can still change that) I've already given it a name at this stage This is the macro set up screen in G-Hub. Note, I originally got into all sorts of difficulties because it automatically switches profiles, and I'd find I was setting it for Chrome when I thought it was Photoshop. You don't need to do the last bit if it is already orange as above. To set that, drag the left most slider to the required speed, and click on the orange diamond. The orange DPI is what the mouse switches to when I press the thumb button (sniper or DPI button). It is not easy to see in the above screen shot, but there is a white line under 2400 and that is my default DPI in Photoshop. There are so many buttons here I haven't even discovered half of them.ĭag I am not able to use LGS with G-Hub installed (the only 'option' is to 'try' G-Hub - this despite the G-HUB FAQ saying it is OK to have both installed) so this is the G-Hub sensitivity screen for the G502 and Photoshop profile (which I had to set up). If you are using LGS or G-Hub with Photoshop and want to collaborate, drop me a PM or email (my email is easy to find).Īh, got it - thanks. You can RTFM at the link below, but there are no video tutorials that I can find, and recording macros with G-Hub is not particularly clear. There is bugger all information out there right now. I notice that JJ's G13 keyboard is not supported, but it's no hardship as LGS does much the same thing as G-Hub. I switched to a G502 from the G602 I have been using for a few years, so no problems. G-Hub has a restricted list of supported devices at this time. I 'think' we can still do this with the Macro option, but only by typing in a character at a time, and I don't know if we can make them paste as hyperlinks. I could easily get LGS to assign a web link - like the Photoshop Troubleshoot, or the OSX Known Issue pages we paste into forum answers every day - to a G-key. I have only been using it for a day, and I am fining it less intuitive than LGS, but it seems to be more powerful. Logitech have put out a beta version of new software called G-Hub, and it has no problems in that respect. One thing that frustrated me was that LGS (Logitech Gaming software) was not as good as Razer's Synapse software at auto detecting the active app and switching to the relative device profiles. OK, I know I go on a bit out using gaming keyboards and mice so as to use their programmable G-Keys to provide a one click trigger of functions in Photoshop and other apps (I don't play games). Macnee was promoted to star and Steed became the focus of the series, initially working with a rotation of three different partners. By the time production could begin on the second series, Hendry had quit to pursue a film career. Production of the first series was cut short by a strike. Series 2–3 (1962–1964) Patrick Macnee as John Steed and Honor Blackman as Cathy Gale The missing television episodes are currently being recreated for audio by Big Finish Productions under the title of The Avengers – The Lost Episodes and star Julian Wadham as Steed, Anthony Howell as Dr Keel and Lucy Briggs-Owen as Carol Wilson. Additionally, the first 15 minutes of the first episode, "Hot Snow", also exist as a telerecording the extant footage ends at the conclusion of the first act, prior to the introduction of John Steed. At present, only three complete Series 1 episodes are known to exist and are held in archives as 16-mm film telerecordings: "Girl on the Trapeze" (which does not feature Steed), "The Frighteners" and " Tunnel of Fear". As was standard practice at the time, videotapes of early episodes of The Avengers were reused. There was little provision for editing and virtually no location footage was shot (although the first shot of the first episode consisted of location footage). The series was shot on 405-line videotape using a multicamera setup. The role of Carol Wilson was initially offered to Jan Watson, who turned it down for another film. Hafner had played opposite Hendry as a nurse in one episode of Police Surgeon. Carol assisted Keel and Steed in cases, and in at least one episode (" Girl on the Trapeze") was very much in the thick of the action, but without being part of Steed's inner circle. The other regular in the first series was Carol Wilson ( Ingrid Hafner), the nurse and receptionist who replaced the slain Peggy. As seen in one of the three surviving episodes from the first series, " The Frighteners", Steed also had informants among the general population to aid his investigations, similar to the " Baker Street Irregulars" of Sherlock Holmes. While Steed and Keel used wit while discussing crimes and dangers, the series also depicted the interplay-and often tension-between Keel's idealism and Steed's professionalism. Hendry was considered the star of the new series, receiving top billing over Macnee, and Steed did not appear in two of the series' episodes.Īs the first series of The Avengers progressed, Steed's importance increased, and he carried the final episode solo. Steed asks Keel to partner with him, as needed, to solve crimes. A stranger named John Steed who was also investigating the ring appears, and together Keel and Steed set out to avenge Peggy's death in the first two episodes. The Avengers began with the episode " Hot Snow", in which medical doctor David H Keel (Hendry) investigates the murder of his fiancée, office receptionist Peggy, by a drug ring. While Police Surgeon did not last long, viewers praised Hendry, and ABC Television cast him in its new series The Avengers, which replaced Police Surgeon in January 1961. The only constant was John Steed, played by Patrick Macnee.ĪBC Weekend TV produced a single series of Police Surgeon, in which Ian Hendry played police surgeon Geoffrey Brent, from September through December 1960. The Avengers was marked by different eras as co-stars came and went. By 1969, The Avengers was shown in more than 90 countries. After a merger with Rediffusion London in July 1968, ABC Weekend became Thames Television, which continued production of the series, subcontracted to ABC Television Films. The Avengers was produced by ABC Weekend TV, a contractor within the ITV network. The final episode, "Bizarre", aired on 21 April 1969 in the United States, and on in the United Kingdom. The first episode, " Hot Snow", aired on 7 January 1961. The series screened as one-hour episodes for its entire run. Dresses and suits for the series were made by Pierre Cardin. His most famous assistants were intelligent, stylish, and assertive women: Cathy Gale ( Honor Blackman), Emma Peel ( Diana Rigg), and Tara King ( Linda Thorson). Hendry left after the first series Steed then became the main character, partnered with a succession of assistants. It initially focused on David Keel ( Ian Hendry), aided by John Steed ( Patrick Macnee). The Avengers is a British espionage television series, created in 1961, that ran for 161 episodes until 1969. Mark the jaw joint on the bottom of the skull.ĭraw a long curve defined by the bottom of the upper jaw. The wrist hides under them as well when the wing is folded.īirds are extremely diverse, but their head has a structure universal to all of them. Scapulars: Feathers covering the base of the wing.Undertail coverts: As the name implies, these feathers cover the base of the tail.Flanks: The long feathers cover the leg above the heel. This way the bird can put an egg straight under the warm body, covered with the belly feathers on the sides. Belly: These feathers don’t really grow from the belly, but from the sides of it.Sides: These fluffy feathers cover the wrist when the wing is folded.Breast: This is the “torso” of the bird, though these feathers are actually attached to the neck.It covers the ear, but you can think of it as a cheek. Auriculars: This is a very distinctive area. They can look like hair, and there’s often skin visible under them. Lores: Tine feathers cover this area between the beak and the eye.Nape: It covers back of the neck kind of like long hair.Supercilium: It’s like a wide, long eyebrow. That’s why they’re so important in drawing: Feathers are grouped into parts of various functions, and these groups can be often distinctively colored, especially on the head. We don’t have to draw bird muscles to draw their bodies realistically, but birds have some other part of visible anatomy that can’t be ignored-feathers. That’s why birds use their knee like a hip joint, and also why the ankle seems like a reversed knee. Because of this, the center of mass has been shifted closer to the chest, while the hips still stayed in the back. In the process for optimization for flight birds have lost their long tails. Let’s simplify the body now, using both bones and muscles for this: The body of a bird is simple and bulky, with hips fused with the chest, so you can imagine the whole main body as one element. You just need to understand that under all these feather there is a normal animal with a torso, long neck, thick thigh and calf, and a specialized arm. So we don’t really need to memorize their detailed look. That theropod skeleton is covered with muscles… which we never see. What we see as a beak is only a part of normal dinosaur jaws. So if you only trace its evolution to a bird, you’ll find all these structures in the latter easily.Īnatomy of birds is well hidden under feathers, but once you think of them as dinosaurs, you should be able to imagine it without problems. Dinosaurs like A, on the other hand, are easier to grasp-they have legs, feet, arms, and hands. But birds are so uniquely built that it may be hard to “become” them. Why am I showing you this? When we draw animals from imagination, we often compare their bodies to ours to “feel” their movement and to create a proper, realistic pose. And C, finally, is a skeleton of a modern bird (chicken, to be exact), with its anatomy even more specialized for flying. B belongs to archaeopteryx-another theropod, this time with real wings and the anatomy optimized for flight. Skeleton A belongs to a very dinosaurs-looking member of theropods (most of them were at least partially feathered!). It can be hard to believe, but not all dinosaurs became extinct. Why? Because they’re dinosaurs! Simple Bird Anatomy Birds are fascinating, completely unique creatures, and they require a slightly different approach in drawing than the animals we have tackled before. But wings are not a separate entity-they’re attached to some animal, and today we’re going to learn about such animal. Last time we took a close look at wings, their anatomy, and details. MONOPOLY® SpongeBob SquarePants Meme Edition is a hilarious twist on the classic, letting players buy, sell, and trade the most internet-famous images of characters from Nickelodeon’s animated series. The brand is launching MONOPOLY®: SpongeBob SquarePants Meme Edition this April. The internet’s favorite memes have joined forces with America’s favorite board game courtesy of The Op. This is a wonderful chance to be supremely petty.Spongebob SquarePants is no stranger to memes (remember those amazing vinyl toys from a few years back via Nickelodeon? Those were great!) And now, the world’s most famous game (no, not UNO) is getting the Spongebob Meme treatment! Brand new from The OP, we have a fantastic new nautical edition, combining greatness from every corner of the world and web! IMAGINATION! You can play the boom and assign those 20 cards to anyone. So say there has been a run of +4s and by the time it gets to you, it’s +20. It let’s you assign a whole stack of cards-to-be-drawn, to whomever you want. +4 on all mistakes, +7 on a missed “Uno!” Draw four for any misplay, draw seven if you missed calling “Uno!” and someone else beats you to it.If you have a color card and can play, you have to, but if you have power cards, you can hold them back. This is instead of Uno’s stated ruled of “draw one card and miss your turn.” We like it because you can end up drawing a ton of cards. This can be potent in a deck with lots of +2s, because if you have a bunch in your hand (withholding power cards is a huge strategy) you can keep playing them on top of each other until the person behind you has the sense to draw. You can’t just lay down three cards at once. One caveat here: You have to reach back to your hand to play cards. Meaning: If I play a Blue 2, I can also lay down a Red 2, a Yellow 2, etc. You can play different colored cards with the same number or symbol if it’s your turn and the person after you hasn’t gone.So you can play a +4 out of turn on someone else’s +4, thereby sticking the person after you with eight cards (unless they have a +4, etc.). This is why I overload my deck with Blue 2s. In effect, this skips other players, because the order continues after your play. That means you can play your Blue 2 on someone else’s Blue 2 even when it’s not your turn. You can play out of turn on any exact match. This is how Bazemore ended up drawing 50. With extra +2s and +4s in the deck, this can go on for ages. If I play a +4 and the next person plays a +4 and the third person plays a +4 then the fourth person has to draw twelve. Meaning that if I play a +2 and the next person plays a +2, the third person has to draw 4. Also, we have a card with a bomb on it, seen above. SECOND: Using the “draw your own rule” wilds, make a + card as big as you think is reasonable (+20?). Also, using any spare cards lying around, overload your deck with a few matching non-face cards (like TONS of Blue 2s, for instance). There’s a lot more strategy here.įIRST: Pirating a second deck, add four Skips, four Reverse cards, four +2s, four +4s, and four Wilds to the main deck. These rules come from one simple idea: games are most fun when it’s a 75-25 split between skill and luck. Now, what you’ve been waiting for without ever realizing it… Uproxx THE AUTHOR’S UNO “HOUSE RULES” It’s an old fashioned game that saw the direction culture was heading and has kept up - making it a fascinating case study and a hell of a lot of fun. Because of its popularity on social media, iconic design, and the endless platforms it’s available on, Uno seems to be winning that war. In the fight over game night, the game that conquers is the game that comes to mind quickly. They even make oversized, undersized, and waterproof cards. On January 4th, a new version of the game was released for PCs which allows you to import your house rules. IF ?YOU ?SAY ?YOU ?WANT ?TO ?PLAY ?UNO ?BUT? GET ?MAD ?WHEN ?I'M WINNING ?AND ?QUIT ? I'M GOING ?TO ? BED?WATCH ?MULAN ?BY ?YOURSELF This is called deadweight loss and occurs in a monopolistic market as a result of the restricted supply. Because the equilibrium is disrupted, both consumers and the producer suffer. The inefficiency in the market as a result of a monopoly is represented by the red triangle in Figure 1.The seller is able to both restrict the quantity available Q M from and raise the price P M. At Point B there is a monopolistic equilibrium, where one seller controls the market. Both the price ( P C) and the quantity ( Q C) reflect this equilibrium. At Point A the market is at competitive equilibrium, and the supply ( S) meets the demand ( D).The market becomes inefficient as the good or service is both more expensive and less available.įigure 1 shows what this looks like graphically: Monopolies create inefficiencies because there is no competition to ensure a "fair" price and quantity. The portion below is the amount of inefficiency experienced by the producer. The portion of the red triangle above the dotted line is the amount of inefficiency the consumers experience. Both the consumer and producer experience some inefficiency. There is less of the good (like gasoline) and it is more expensive (people are paying more at the gas station). Monopolies disrupt the equilibrium when the competition is disrupted, Point A → Point B. This allows them to artificially raise the price, even when the price of inputs such as oil, may fall.įigure 1. The monopolistic firm has the ability to control the price as they desire, due to the market power they possess. The price of gasoline is closely linked to the price of oil, which is a component of gasoline, thus as the price of oil falls, the price of gasoline typically will fall. In a perfectly competitive market, sellers are instead price takers meaning they are unable to charge the price for a good or service that they desire.įor example, imagine a consumer goes to purchase gasoline for their vehicle and there is only one firm that owns all the gasoline stations in the city. In this sense, price becomes a function of output. A firm that is able to change the price of the good or service it sells has market power. In a monopolistic setting, the single seller is able to set the price because they do not have to compete with firms offering lower prices. A lack of competition allows the firm to charge a much higher price for goods and services, thus generating more revenue. A firm that is the only supplier or seller in a market is said to have a monopoly. Web crispy cones’s current estimated worth is $1 million. The startup sent a letter over the weekend letting.
